The Atlas TEG Sport Rally Team will take no further part in the battle for the 2008 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship teams' title.

The squad has not nominated any drivers' to score teams points this weekend on the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire, nor does it have any plans to do so on the season ending, Wales Rally GB.

The decision follows the controversy on the Ulster International Rally last month - when Mark Higgins and Phillip Morrow both scored team points'. However post-event Morrow was stripped of his team points due to an apparent paperwork discrepancy regarding his co-driver's registration.

"After the whole incident with the team points on Ulster, yes we have withdrew our teams' entry," a spokesperson for TEG Sport told Crash.net. "However due to BRC regulations we cannot be removed from the website or have our points removed. We will basically just end up last if we don't nominate drivers.

"However we have stood firm with our decision that we were treated unfairly in light of Mitsubishi running [Guy Wilks] with no bumper all afternoon and not being penalised and then with Mitsubishi putting in a query regarding Phillip Morrow, and as such have not nominated drivers for the remainder of the year.

"The other teams said they would stand by us but at the last minute have entered nominations and have registered their drivers for team points.

"We will go to the Yorkshire with Mark [Higgins] as our only driver. Phillip has been working hard to get a deal and backing but as yet nothing is confirmed, while Wyn [Humphreys]'s stolen car has still to be recovered."

The Mitsubishi UK works team meanwhile has strenuously denied having played any part in Morrow being stripped of team points on the Ulster.

"We will be putting all the distractions of the past few weeks to one side this weekend and getting on what we set out to do since the start of the season - and that's to regain the British team's and driver's titles," added Mitsubishi team boss Paul Brigden.

"To achieve this we need both cars to finish strongly and, following the performance of the same two drivers on this event last year, I am confident we can do it."

The Atlas TEG Sport team is currently second in the BRC teams' championship with 117 points - compared to the 121 points notched up by Team TQ.com and 113 by Mitsubishi Motors UK.
