Greer to miss Wales Rally GB

Jonathan Greer has confirmed that he will sit out the Wales Rally GB, the final round in this year's Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship.

Greer, who is currently in the top five in the BRC standings, will miss the Welsh double header in part due to budgetary constraints and also because he wants to focus on 2009.

"We have looked long and hard at contesting Rally GB, but with our current championship position it is unlikely that we will be able to influence the result of the championship and will instead be competing hoping other competitors run into problems," he explained.

"That is not the way we want to enter the rally. So the decision has been taken to miss it and look towards 2009."

Greer thus concluded his year last weekend on the Bulldog Rally when he equalled his best result to date by taking fourth in the 2008 Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge.

The 20-year-old was initially in two minds about attending the Oswestry-based round, but the temptation of a free entry, his prize for winning last years ANCRO clubman championship along with the addition of the Bulldog to the BRC calendar for 2009 were the deciding factors.

In the end he enjoyed a trouble free run, something that has been a rare occurrence of late and the top moment of the day was a second fastest stage time in the Challenge on the final test.

"The event was very enjoyable. I am very happy with some of our stage times although it took us a while to really get going, it is good to end the season on a high note," he summed-up.
