Bad luck for Fordes on Tempest

Irish crew Ross and Arron Forde suffered misfortune in the final round of the Suzuki Swift Sport Cup as they failed to finish the Tempest Rally.

The Galway brothers were lying in second place in the series and 13th overall before a mechanical problem on their Global Group Ireland and BCC Group-backed Suzuki Swift Sport put them out on stage five of the Aldershot-based gravel event.

A brand new driveshaft broke ending their day prematurely and the non-finish puts them fifth overall in the single-make championship and driver Ross third in the juniors.

“It's devastating that we went out and couldn't finish the final round,” Ross said. “It just dashed all of our hopes but anything can happen in rallying at any time.

“Up until then we'd been going well and it's just a shame we couldn't conclude our push for second spot in the championship.

“It's been a mixed year for us but we've enjoyed competing in the series and venturing out onto some new rallies. We just have to look forward to next season now.”
