2006 British Super 1600 champion, James Wozencroft was at the Castle Combe Rallyday 2007 last Saturday.
Crash.net Radio's Rob Wilkins caught up with the Suzuki Swift man to get his thoughts on that event and to discuss how his own season has been going...
Crash.net:
James, what have you made of the Rallyday so far?
James Wozencroft:
It is great fun. We have been really busy all morning. We have been in the two Swifts and going around the feature stage.
Crash.net:
Do you enjoy this kind of event?
JW:
Yeah, I love it. It is a great opportunity just to have some fun in the car. When we are actually competing and out on the stages it is always good fun too, but it is very, very serious. Today though, we are having a bit of a 'cowboy' as they say and we are on the handbrake and just showing off for the fans.
Crash.net:
How has your season been going so far, because you have been competing in the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship and the Irish Tarmac Championship?
JW:
It has been a bit of a mixed season. The Ulster was the last event for us and it was fantastic. We were first in our class in both the BRC and the Irish Tarmac Championship. On some of the other events though, it has been a bit up and down. We have had some really quick stage times and some great results, but we have also had some retirements too. As such we are middle of the table at the moment.
Crash.net:
What are you hoping to do in the remainder of the season?
JW:
In the BRC we are eight points off the lead for the [Rally 2] championship and so the aim for that is still definitely to win. We can't actually win the Irish Tarmac Championship at the moment but we are planning to come second and we have got one more event left there. We need to try and get second there.
Crash.net:
The next BRC event is the Rally Yorkshire, how have preparations been going for that?
JW:
Good, the cars are all prepared and ready to go. We are off to Cork the weekend before the Trackrod and so we will have had plenty of time in the car. I am looking forward to the Trackrod - it should be a good event and we are back on the gravel.
Crash.net:
You recently competed in the WRC, when you stood in for P-G Andersson in Germany. You must have been pleased to get the call-up for that J-RC event?
JW:
It was an incredible experience – such a good weekend. The car was fantastic, the team were brilliant and it was just a great opportunity to drive against the world championship juniors. It was brilliant to do and I can't wait to do it again.
Crash.net:
What are your plans for 2008? Is anything confirmed?
JW:
