FST: Hall stuns in Scotland

Kris Hall dominated the RSAC Scottish Rally last weekend, the fourth round of the Kick Energy Fiesta SportTrophy UK series.

Hall led the event from start-to-finish and was in control throughout, eventually finishing 30 seconds up on Craig Breen, who was 'best of the rest' in the FST category.

Hall's performance was also good enough to see him end up 14th overall on the event – and second in 2WD, beating several runners in far more powerful machinery.

"I am absolutely delighted to win, this morning the times were coming fairly easy for us, but after we dropped time on one stage after being caught in the dust of another competitor we were worried Craig may catch us so I had to up the pace a bit," said Hall.

"The car worked perfectly and I have to thank the team for preparing and running it so well. I really needed the win and I hope this weekend's result will help to get my championship chances back on track!"

Breen meanwhile would have been right up there and in the fight for the win, but he was also slowed by dust in SS4 when another competitor went off the road. That dropped him to fifth, but he fought his way back to take the runners-up spot.

Matt Edwards completed the podium, 12 seconds further back, and he had a frustrating event, unable to understand where he was losing time. As a result he now lies joint top in the FSTUK standings with Kyle Orr, both on 83 points, while Mark Donnelly has 82 and Breen and Hall tie for fourth spot with 80.

Donnelly finished the event in P4, with Orr coming in fifth, followed by local man Stevie Brown, who could have been on the podium but for a puncture in SS1, and then Ross Forde. Rory Hall, Thomas Watson and Robbie Barrable completed the top ten.

13 of the 14 FSTUK runners made it to the end - Harry Hunt was the only retiree, sliding off wide and getting stuck in a ditch in the very first stage. Although he managed to get back on the road he had lost too much time and was deemed O.T.L.

The championship now returns to the MSA British Rally Championship fold for the next event - and the dual format of the FST with the Manx International Rally on the 10-11 July.
