Jones happy to 'survive' Quinton

Neville and Julian Jones enjoyed a faultless day out on the Quinton Stages in Mid Wales last weekend, when they brought their Vulcan Fasteners-backed Subaru Impreza N12 home twelfth in class.

Based in Llandovery, the 2009 Quinton Stages saw competitors tackle some of the best forestry roads in the area, including the world famous Crychan and Halfway Stages normally used on Wales Rally GB.

With weather varying between bright sunshine and hanging dust to the occasional rain shower, the crews were faced with the most challenging of conditions, variable grip level on these high speed stages.

Yet for brothers-in-law Neville and Julian the day went with out a hitch, their Geoff Jones Motorsport-run Subaru running like clockwork and the pair were pleased with their pace throughout the rally.

“The day went well for both Julian and I,” said Neville. “As usual we lost a bit of time in the morning finding a rhythm but I'm happy with how the day panned out.

“The conditions were very tricky today and a lot of people had moments or accidents and so just to survive is an achievement in itself.”
