Bogie after good points haul on Manx

David Bogie will be looking to set the record straight when he heads half-way across the Irish Sea for round four of this year's MSA British Rally Championship for the Rally Isle of Man this week.

Bogie and co-driver Kevin Rae failed to finish on the Jim Clark Rally back in May, following an accident on the first day and an engine problem on the second.

Since then though, JR Motorsports has re-built and tested Bogie's Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X and the squad now has high hopes that the car will perform well over the Manx roads.

Bogie himself is also determined and he knows he needs a good haul of points to keep his and the team's title hopes alive.

He has also admitted he has a score to settle on the Manx, as his previous visits to the Isle of Man have not gone according to plan.

"I have competed on the island twice before and, although being on the pace, both times have resulted in a damaged car," said the 21-year-old, who is fifth in the BRC drivers' standings following a fourth place finish on the Bulldog and a third on the Pirelli.

"I've now got more experience on tarmac and therefore, as it's a long and demanding rally, it's a case of not making any mistakes, treating the car well and getting to the finish - a strategy that will almost certainly bring us a good result and points."
