MSA Rally Elite Member Kris Hall took his first overall win on the Greystoke Stages last Sunday, July 12.

Hall, who took in the event in his father's Red Mitsubishi Evolution 9, headed to the single venue forest rally straight off the back of competing on the Manx, where he was in action in the Kick Energy Fiesta Sporting Trophy.

While he did score valuable points on the Isle of Man and eventually came home fourth in the FST, it wasn't an easy event and there was drama before it even began when the 19-year-old crashed in the shakedown. He also went off in the very first stage but luckily his car only sustained light damage and he could continue, albeit now with no chance of taking the class win.

Following the conclusion of the Manx, Hall and co-driver Robbie Durant, caught the ferry straight back to tackle the Greystoke Stages and despite only driving the Evo for a few miles on tarmac the week before, Hall was immediately on it.

Indeed he set some respectable times in SS1 and SS2 and then upped the pace in SS3 to take a commanding lead from fellow competitor, Peter Sinclair who was also competing in an Evo 9.

After that Hall never looked back impressively setting the fastest stage times in SS4, SS5, SS6 and SS7 and building a comfortable margin to take the honours by over a minute.

"It's been a hectic weekend to say the least," Hall reflected. "Winning today has been great, this is my first overall win and it feels good. I didn't know what to expect but the Evo is brilliant to drive. It took a while to get used to the power but the times were good.

"I am pleased how we bounced back on the Manx too - and we picked up some handy points there with just two rounds left.

"We didn't have the set up quite right at first but when we got it sorted we were the fastest. It is just a shame we made that mistake in shakedown otherwise the car would have been right."
