by Geoff MayesBRC and JRC competitor, Conrad Rautenbach has extended his lead in the FIA African Rally Championship to nine points following his dominant victory at the weekend on the Mountain Gorilla Rally in Rwanda.
Rautenbach, who had already won the previous two rounds of the championship, the Safari Rally and the Pearl of Africa, experienced a faultless rally to eventually take victory on the two-day event by over five and a half minutes in his Jardine Lloyd Thompson supported-Subaru Impreza.
“What a great event,” said Conrad. “It was near perfect, apart from a puncture when I slid wide on Saturday. The rally was really well organised and the stages were brilliant to drive.
“I had a lot of fun this weekend. I was trying some new dampers and once we had adjusted them the car worked really well.”
Rautenbach will now fly back to Europe to prepare for the next round of the FIA Junior Rally Championship, the Rally d'Italia Sardegna, in two weeks time.
