Huw Jeffreys and Avarina Connor had a successful weekend as they finished 12th overall on Saturday's Bulldog Rally.
Cross Hands driver Jeffreys and Llanon co-driver Connor also claimed the spoils in the Subaru Trophy as well as finishing fifth in Group N in their Subaru Impreza backed by Activair by Trianco Boilers, Swansea Plumbpoint and W Doyle Transport on the Oswestry-based 65-mile forest event.
The Aberystwyth Motor Club crew were up to 16th overall following the first loop of two stages after a smooth run across the slippery gravel. They hauled themselves up to 12th by the finish of the fourth test after narrowly avoiding what potentially could have been an off as they spun in stage four.
The pair performed consistently over the final two stages to maintain their position to the finish, despite the top of the gear stick coming off in the middle of stage six.
Jeffreys collected 15 points in the Hankook MSA National Gravel Rally Championship to finish 29th overall in the drivers' standings as Connor took 19 points to finish 24th overall in the series following the final round after a difficult season.
The Bulldog Rally was also the final round of the Welsh Clubmans Rally Championship for the crew. They won class five in the series, with Jeffreys finishing third overall and Connor second, as well as taking the Lady co-drivers' title.
“We had a really good day and are pleased with the result,” Jeffreys said. “The first two stages went really well, we had a very good start to the day.
“The stages were quite slippery, they were very fast and there were some scary corners. I don't quite know how we got out of the big spin we had on stage four, we thought we were going off as their was a big hole on the inside but then we recovered and continued. The gear stick end coming off was quite amusing, it didn't hinder us too much as I could still change gear OK.”
Jeffreys and Connor also scored points in the MSA Welsh National Rally Championship. Jeffreys is ninth overall whilst Connor is fifth overall with just one round to go.
They will next be in action in their D & C Rallying prepared Subaru Impreza in the final round of the series, the Cambrian Rally, on Saturday 3 November.
