Humphreys: I'm wiser now...

TEG Sport's Wyn Humphreys believes that he will have a great opportunity this year in the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship.

Humphreys made his debut at the top level in the UK last season and immediately impressed despite his lack of experience.

Indeed he even led at the half-way point, following a third place finish on the Rally Isle of Man and although he slipped back and had to settle for fourth in the standings at the end of the year, he was only three points off Gwyndaf Evans, who took third.

He now wants to make the most of that experience and do even better in 2008.

"I am looking forward to the battle this year," said Wyn. "I am now a year wiser to the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship and with many new names appearing in the series it will be a great opportunity for us to match our pace with drivers from all over the world."

Wyn will however, have to cope with some changes this season and with Alistair Mackay having moved to the other side of the world, Rob Fagg will now be in the co-drivers seat.

"It will be our first year competing together," Wyn continued. "My co-driver from last year Ali Mackay moved to New Zealand a short time before Christmas.

"Although it will take a while for Rob and I to get to know each other in the car, I am feeling confident that we will get on great. I think we will be able to be on the pace from the first round."

Humphreys' is also looking forward to working with his new team-mate, Patrik Flodin and believes his arrival will help him and the team.

"Having Patrik as a team-mate this year will be a boost for me and the TEG Sport team," he added.

TEG Sport boss Stuart Newby meanwhile believes that Humphreys and Flodin will make a great pairing. He has also pledged that his team will be doing everything possible to ensure that both can use the new Impreza N14 from the first event, the Pirelli International Rally, which runs from April 18-19.

"The combination of Wyn's experience of the BRC events and the youth, enthusiasm and speed of the crews should see both drivers right at the forefront of the field. We are determined that the new cars will be ready for the Pirelli Rally but we have a pair of 2007 Imprezas on stand by just in case," he summed-up.
