Higgins going for the hat-trick

Mark Higgins will be aiming for his third BRC win in succession on this weekend's Ulster International Rally, the latest round in the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship.

Higgins heads to Ireland following a fantastic result on his home event, the Rally Isle of Man, last month, when he not only took the honours in the BRC, but also won the event outright.

The veteran is now second in the BRC standings - with 40 points, following his win on the Manx and his victory on the Jim Clark back in May - and that leaves him eight points off the current leader, brother David, while James Wozencroft lies third on 39 points and Guy Wilks fourth on 38.

Speaking about the Ulster Rally recently, Atlas TEG Sport Rally team number one Higgins insisted that he is once again going to be pushing for the maximum points haul in his Subaru Impreza - and, having won in Armagh in 2007, the omens are all good for the triple British Rally champion.

"We're second in the BRC points going into the event and, having won the BRC section of the event last year, we'll be aiming for a repeat performance," he confirmed on his personal website.

Having recently competed in Ireland, finishing second overall on the Lurgan Park Rally, Higgins will be joined on the fourth round in the BRC by regular team-mate Wyn Humphreys and new signing Phillip Morrow.

Morrow joins the Atlas TEG Sport Rally Team after being dropped by the 'works' Mitsubishi UK squad and, as it is his home event, he will replace Humphreys in the 'second' car and be nominated to score team points.

The Atlas TEG Sport Rally Team has scored 97 points in the teams' championship to date, holding top spot at the moment, with Team TQ.com second on 92 and Mitsubishi third with 78 points.
