New look for Jones ahead of Woodpecker stages

by Geoff Mayes

Neville Jones returns to action on this weekends Woodpecker Stages in a fresh looking Subaru Impreza and is anxious to have a good run after a series of adventure filled outings recently.

Jones, who this weekend is joined by Ian Capewell in the Vulcan Fasteners backed Subaru, upgraded to a newer specification Geoff Jones Motorsport run N12 Subaru earlier this year, but since then has had a little dark cloud following him around.

Minor off road excursions on the past few events has dented Jones' confidence somewhat and, with a test planned with Geoff Jones ahead of this weekend, he is hopeful of a drama free event.

“When I bought the car from Rob Swann earlier this year it had a brilliant track record but because it was still in his colours I couldn't stop thinking it was still his car,” he said, “and so we've taken advantage of the summer break to freshen her up and give the car a new look. I know the Woodpecker well and so hope we have a good run this weekend.”

Jones is contesting both the Welsh Championship and the BTRDA Rally Series, of which the Woodpecker Stages counts as the seventh round out of ten. Even though he has missed two of the previous rallies he still sits comfortably in seventh position in the Production Class.
