Two on the trot for Higgins after Yorkshire win


Mark Higgins has taken victory on the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire today [Sunday], round seven of the 2004 Kwik Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship.

Higgins beat reigning BRC champion, Jonny Milner by 2 minutes 25.3 seconds, after winning all but two of the stages.

Matthew Wilson meanwhile was third with Steve Perez fourth, Austin MacHale fifth, and Steve Petch sixth in his Hyundai Accent.

Leon Pesticcio won the Super 1600 category, finishing 15th overall, over seven seconds up on Barry Clark, who was second in the S16 class [20th overall].

Sebastian Ling took the Production category honours, with Lorna Smith second and Dorian Rees third.

In total 37 cars were classified at the finish, 46 having started the event on Saturday.

The next - and final event of 2004 - is the Tempest South of England Rally, which runs from November 5-6.
