Media pair Tony Jardine and Franca Davenport claimed an impressive podium finish and 30th overall after overcoming a few scares and brief technical problems with their car during the Bournemouth-based Rallye Sunseeker.
The crew were almost forced to miss the event when Davenport was late signing on for the event after being delayed on her journey from Bristol to the south coast, with special dispensation being granted to allow her to take her place alongside Jardine in the Ford Fiesta.
A solid run through Friday's opening stage was followed by the cancellation of stage two due to an accident, with the pair then turning their focus towards the remainder of the event on Saturday.
Running second through the final day, the pair lost time when the car lost power due to an issue with the ECU but with the car repaired in service, they were able to battle to a podium finish.
“I just got straight back into the flow of things, and really enjoyed every moment of the experience,” Davenport said at the finish. “We had a few scares today, but they were also a bit of fun. Tony has been telling me about this rally for sometime, and it has met all of my expectations. I am delighted with the finish, it just leaves me wanting to compete more.”
