The Revolution Wheels Rally Team has this week announced that they will field a two-car team in the 2009 British Rally Championship and will balance the experience of regular driver Rob Swann with the youthfulness of rising Scottish talent Euan Thorburn.

After a mixed season in 2008, Bishop Stortford resident Swann and Welsh co-driver Darren Garrod will return in their Prodrive built Subaru Impreza N14 and are hoping that lessons learnt last year will help the pair re-capture the competitive form of previous seasons.

Joining the team is rising Scottish star, and British Rally Academy member, Euan Thorburn. He enjoyed a strong run in the Scottish Championship in 2008 and will now make the step up to the premier division of British rallying with the Revolution Wheels Rally Team. Joining him in his Subaru Impreza N12 is highly rated lady co-driver Claire Mole, whose experience of the rallies should help the 22-year-old find his feet.

Speaking prior to the opening round, the Bulldog International Rally of Wales, team Manager Warren McKiernan, was excited about the season ahead.

"2008 was a real baptism of fire for me, but it's made both myself and the whole team determined to return to the championship this year," he said. "We are really looking forward to the season ahead and let's let the driving do the talking!

"Depending on how the first few rounds go the Revolution Wheels Rally Team could consider expanding to a three-car team later in the season and guest drivers will be announced at a later stage."

The 2009 Bulldog International Rally of Wales is new to the British Rally Championship, but the event is actually celebrating its 49th birthday this year. The event will be based in the picturesque village of Bala in Mid Wales and features some of the finest forest stages in the country.

The first car departs the town centre at 08:30 on Saturday 28 March 2009, with the ceremonial finish at approximately 6pm the same day.
