Double DNF for Revolution Wheels on Bulldog

The Revolution Wheels Rally Team, which returned to the MSA British Rally Championship for a second season on last weekends Bulldog International Rally of North Wales, was left ruing a pointless weekend after both cars failed to finish the Bala based event.

With rising Scottish star Euan Thorburn joining team mate Rob Swann in a pair of Geoff Jones Motorsport assisted Subaru Imprezas' team principal Warren McKiernan had high hopes of a strong showing. However it did not go according to plan.

Swann's Subaru N14 developed an incurable electrical fault en-route to the opening stage and when this could not be resolved at the first service the team took the decision to retire the car to avoid damaging the engine.

Meanwhile 22-year-old Thorburn showed plenty of promise on his first ever International Rally, running strongly inside the top five until he slid off the road and out of the rally half way through the event.

“We arrived here with minimal testing under our belts and did expect a bit of a struggle as the pace is always rapid in the British Championship,” McKiernan said, “so for Euan to run inside the top five is really positive. However points equal prizes and today we didn't get any points. We must do better on the Pirelli Rally next month.”

The Revolution Wheels Rally Team, which is supported by Fuchs, R.A. Swann Construction, Total Car Magazines and Geoff Jones Motorsport, will next be out in action on the Carlisle based Pirelli International Rally 18 April 2009.
