Dave Weston Junior showed that his pace in 2008 was no fluke as the 18 year old British Rally Academy member put in a strong performance in his new Ramsport run Subaru Impreza N14 en route to sixth overall and third in class on last weekends Bulldog International Rally of North Wales.

Weston, who was co-driven by Neil Shanks on the Bala based rally, is contesting the full MSA British Rally Championship this year, and having only contested the event once before, was focusing more on gaining experience rather than on outright pace. However he was very pleased to run inside the top six overall throughout the day, which saw crews tackle some of the most technical forest stages in Mid Wales in a variety of weather conditions, from sleet and rain to low lying bright sunlight later in the day.

"I'm really pleased with how today went," he said. "This is only my fourth ever recce'd rally and our method seemed to work well. The stages were really good, but the last two were pretty rough. The car was great and the only drama was when I knocked the rear bumper on the second last stage."

The pair now head north to Carlisle for the Pirelli International Rally next. Although Weston Jnr has never tackled this event before he has an idea of what to expect after having contested the recent Border Counties Rally a fortnight ago. The Pirelli International Rally takes place on Saturday April 18 2009.
