Pritchard ready for Pirelli challenge

British Rally Elite member Jason Pritchard is eagerly looking forward to the second round of the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship, this weekends Pirelli International Rally, as the 20-year-old has fond memories of his last visit to the Carlisle based event.

Although Pritchard, the reigning Citroen C2R2cup champion, was forced to miss the 2008 edition of the Pirelli International Rally due to a broken ankle, he scored an emphatic victory in the class on his debut in the C2R2cup in 2007, and will be looking to continue his strong start to the new season on this weekends rally, which he will contest in his Competition Car Insurance and North Road Garage backed C2R2 Max.

Three weeks ago Pritchard and co-driver Andrew Edwards took a strong victory on the Bulldog International Rally of North Wales but are well aware that competition is tough and that they need to be at the top of their game this weekend.

“The Kielder forests are really unique, with fast straights and nasty ditches waiting to catch the unwary out,” Pritchard said. “This is a proper drivers rally and as such I am really looking forward to it. We had a really good run here two years ago and whilst my game plan is the same as on the Bulldog, to run our own rally, it would be nice to target a similar result.

“Andrew, my new co-driver, and I have had time to adjust to each other now, and I've learnt a lot about the new Max so hopefully we should have a good rally this weekend.”

The Pirelli International Rally is based in Carlisle and utilises stages in and around the infamous Kielder Forest Complex.

I have just seen the article on Jason Pritchard. If it was used as a press release to all newspapers within a 20 radius of his home town I think the chances of it being printed were minimal. Which is a pity. The lad needs all the publicity he can get. The majority of rally teams are not competent in generating their own publicity, so when another "writer" produces rubbish, what real is there. It does the Pirelli company no favours either.
