Anderson heads for Otterburn

After the disappointment of the last stage problems which robbed him of a potential top ten finish on the recent Weeton Stages Rally, Chris Anderson is hoping for a return to form when he contests this forthcoming weekend's Tyneside Stages Rally.

Since his rallying debut back in January, the 17-year-old from County Durham has contested purely single-venue events. Now though, he will take a leap into the unknown with his first multi-venue rally on the narrow asphalt roads of the Otterburn Army Ranges in Northumberland, where he will be using the pace-notes system for the first time.

Anderson will once again team up with experienced co-driver Chris Thirling in their MSR Motorsport-prepared Ford Puma S1600 for the Alnwick and DMC and BDMC event which comprises a qualifying round of the AS Performance North of England Tarmacadam Rally Championship.

"This is going to be totally different to anything I've done so far but I'm really looking forward to it," said Anderson.

"My co-driver Chris has got good experience on pacenotes and we've had a quick run through but I'll have a better idea of how everything works after Saturday's recce. I'm not setting myself any goals for this weekend other than to finish as it's all about learning as much as I can about this type of rallying.

"Also given Otterburn has an awesome reputation, I don't want a bad experience on my first event there.

"If we can have a good run without too many problems and add to our points tally in the championship, then that will be a good day."
