Solid second for Cole and Flynn.

Damian Cole took second overall in the tarmac Harry Flatters Rally at Epynt at the weekend, missing out to Peter Lloyd in a Subaru Impreza WRC by the narrowest margin, 7.8 seconds.

Whilst the event had no bearing upon Cole's lead in the Welsh National Rally Championship and second place in the BTRDA Series, it was an opportunity to test the navigational skills of 18 year old co-driver Ella Flynn.

The event in the Get Connected! Hyundai Accent WRC marked her first event in a World Rally Car, with the teenager passing the test with flying colours.

“Ella is a very promising co-driver and deserved the win,” Cole said. “Special stage eight was a bit of a disaster; we had transmission ECU failure on the start line and for the whole stage had no gear change screen or active diffs.

“We lost eleven seconds which cost us the win.”
