Swann takes second in Belgium.

Rob Swann enjoyed a strong run on the Rally Omloop van Vlaanderen in Belgium last weekend, taking the fight to the locals and eventually finishing tenth overall and second in Group N.

Swann, co-driven by Darren Garrod in the Subaru Impreza N14, took a stage to get used to the surface grip and understand the level of corner cutting required, but after that he set consistent top three stage times throughout the two-day event.

Swann could quite easily have taken the class win too - but was unlucky to be caught on slick tyres for two stages when rain fell, although even with this handicap the Revolution Wheels Rally Team man did well to drop minimal time.

"What a fantastic rally, the stages were very technical, the organisation was second to none and the local fans created such a great atmosphere," said Swann, who also received the accolade of being the first foreign crew home. "Even our fellow competitors were brilliant, offering advice and support. Everyone really made us feel welcome."

"To come away from our first foreign rally in the car with a top ten overall result is amazing," added team boss, Warren McKiernan. "Rob drove a great rally and full credit to Geoff Jones, Prodrive and Ohlins for all the work they have put into sorting the handling out.

"Also a big thanks to Fairfield Motorsport for running the team. The Subaru ran faultlessly all weekend and, judging by the smiling faces and cheering at the podium ceremony, I think the locals enjoyed us being there as well."

Swann's Subaru Impreza N14 will now be converted to gravel specification ahead of the fifth round of the 2008 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship, the International Rally of Yorkshire.
