Neville Jones enjoyed a faultless drive on the Welshpool based Plains Rally last weekend to put to rest the memories of previous runs through the Mid Wales forests and record a strong top ten class finish to boot.

Neville and co-driver Ian Capewell had not had the best of runs on this rally in the past but following recent set up work and additional instructing from rallying talent Geoff Jones, Neville has found new confidence in his Vulcan Fasteners backed-Subaru N12 and last weekend showed the results of all that hard work and effort.

Choosing to adopt a cautious approach to the opening loop of stages Neville and Ian set a run of stage times that were on the fringes of the top thirty but as confidence grew so did their pace and the pair returned to the finish in 28th position and tenth in class which, considering the competition, is a more than respectable result.

"Ian and I were both anxious for a good clean run today. I do enjoy the stages a lot, but we've never really had luck here before," said Jones.

"The opening stage, Coed Mawr, was so fast and I was possibly still half asleep so we lost a bit of time through there. But the car ran perfectly and I really enjoyed the day, which is what rallying at this level is all about!"

With only one more round of the 2008 BTRDA Rally Championship to go Neville is currently in sixth position in Group N and will be looking for a strong run on the season ending Cambrian Rally. Before then though, the Geoff Jones Motorsport run pair will be back in action on the Bulldog Rally which takes place on October 18.
