Last year's winners Dave Weston and Dave Robson head the entry list for this Sunday's Pickering-based Malton Forest Rally.
Aberdeen driver Weston and Jedburgh co-driver Robson will return to defend their victory in their Ford Focus WRC followed by the number two car of Thirsk driver Tim Pearcey and Welsh co-driver Jamie Edwards in their Mitsubishi Evo.
Ripon driver Charlie Payne and York co-driver Craig Thorley will start at number three in their Mitsubishi Evo Step 2 WRC.
Competitors and spectators will also have the opportunity to get a first glance of the new MEM (Mellors Elliot Motorsport) Super 2000 Proton Satria Neo rally car, as it will be on display throughout the event at Pickering Showground.
The entry is the strongest-ever and boasts 74 cars, including around 20 local crews, with a few more entries expected in the final few days leading up to the Malton Motor Club and Selby DMC run rally.
Clerk of the course Graham Harper said: “We're really pleased with the entries, the rally seems to be going from strength to strength. We welcome back those competitors who are returning to the event and those who are new to it.
“It's a real honour that our event sponsor MEM has chosen to give people the chance to have a first look at their new Proton Super 2000 at the rally and we're once again grateful for their support.”
The sixth running of the Malton Forest Rally is once again sponsored by Mellors Elliott Motorsport/Aero Maintenance and will use 45 competitive stage miles in Cropton, Gale Rigg and Langdale as well as hosting a mile-long spectator special stage, the start/finish and main service area at Pickering Showground.
Spectators are welcome in Cropton and at Pickering Showground. Day passes cost £10 per car, including a programme, and all money raised above the nominal amount for the Forestry Commission will go to Pickering Scout Group and Pickering Rotary Club, who will be directing car parking on the day.
Parking for Cropton is at the Sutherland Lodge entrance and follow arrows to car parking. Due to recent problems at the Spiers House entrance, car parking will NOT be permitted there. Parking at the Showground is off the main gate.
The first car is due through Cropton at 09.12 and 13.19 and the Showground at 08.31, 12.39 and 16.18.
