Tempest next test for Pritchard.

by Geoff Mayes

Jason Pritchard will tackle the Tempest Rally this coming weekend as part of his ongoing evaluation of four wheel drive machinery as he weighs up the options for next year.

Pritchard is a front runner in the extremely competitive Citroen C2R2cup, a one make series for the little front wheel drive cars, but the mature headed 20-year-old is already thinking about '09 and has chosen to gain experience of the more powerful production class machines that typically challenge for overall honours.

The first step of this massive learning curve was the recent Bulldog Clubman Rally where the British Rally Elite member and co-driver George Gwynn impressed the onlookers with a faultless drive to fourth overall and second in class in their North Road Garage supported Subaru Impreza N11 - this despite less than half a day of testing before hand.

With the experiences learnt Pritchard is now keen to gain more time in the car over the next couple of weeks but he admits that he is not looking to compare times just yet.

“I really enjoyed the experience of driving a four wheel drive car on the Bulldog Rally. I've never done the Tempest before but as it's so close to London I'm looking at getting a couple of potential sponsors to come and have a look on the day.

“I know I'm still lacking in experience of these cars so will just be looking to improve my driving and am not worried about the stage times.”

The Tempest Rally is based in Aldershot, a mere 25 miles south of London, and offers one of the best opportunities for residents of the capital to come and witness the high speed adrenalin sport of rallying.

The rally incorporates stages in the surrounding military ranges and also visits the Rushmoor Arena for three 'spectator stages', including one run at sunset, giving the drivers an extra challenge at the end of a tough and challenging event.
