Wilks heads to Australia.

Following a successful assault on the Canberra Rally in May, Guy Wilks will return to Australia this weekend for another outing in the JAS Motorsport Honda Civic Type-R R3.

Wilks will take part in the Coffs Coast Rally, which is based on the east coast of Australia between Sydney and Brisbane.

The all-gravel event, which counts for the Australian Rally Championship, runs through some spectacular scenery with the route taking in a wide variety of fast and challenging stages.

While Wilks wasn't able to finish the Canberra Rally on his last outing with Honda in Australia, impressed onlookers by running as high as fifth place overall against much more powerful four-wheel drive machinery and he said he was confident of a strong run again this time around.

"Since then I think we've managed to improve the car a lot, and we've had a lot more time in it," he said. "Once more, this rally in Australia is a step into the unknown for us and we will be faced with some extremely strong local competitors in good cars.

“But we'll take our usual approach by going as quick as we can and seeing where we end up. I've got every confidence in the capabilities of both the car and the team, with a special mention to the Mugen-tuned engine!"

Alessandro Mariani, team principal of JAS Motorsport, added that the focus for the event was to show the pace of the car in a country where there has been plenty of interest from different parties.

"Our objective on this rally is once more to underline the speed and reliability of our Honda Civic Type R R3, in a country and marketplace that has already shown a lot of enthusiasm and support for the car. Having once more proved our pace on a number of international events this year, we're hoping for another good result in Australia this weekend."
