Alex Allingham and co-driver Mark Glennerster are looking forward to their first 'proper' taste of a modern Subaru Impreza when they tackle the Coppermine Grizedale Forest Stages this weekend.

Although the self-employed motor trader replaced his ageing GC8 with the newer generation Impreza N10 ahead of the Cambrian Rally three weeks ago, the 24-year-old suffered terribly with a tooth infection and very nearly did not even contest the rally.

Despite this not allowing the Alex Allingham Cars-backed driver to explore the limits of his new stead he still ended the tricky rally fourth in Group N.

With the affected nerve now removed Allingham is back to full health and looking forward to contesting the Grizedale Rally, an event he has competed on every single year since he began driving, back in 2001.

The two times BTRDA Clubman Production Cup Champion has finished inside the top ten overall for the past two years.

"I'm really looking forward to the Grizedale Stages. It's an event I always enjoy and this year will give me a good opportunity to try out the new car before deciding on my plans for 2009," he explained.

"The Cambrian Rally showed me that the N10 is a lot easier to drive and if there is snow and ice, like there usually is, then we should have a lot of fun this weekend. I can't wait."
