USR loses Molina, skips Nurburgring

USR will not compete at the penultimate round of the World Series by Renault after losing both of its drivers during the summer break.

The team, runners-up in their maiden season last year, have endured a difficult 2009 thus far, with the combination of race winner Miguel Molina and rookie Greg Mansell getting them no higher than seventh in the standings with only two rounds remaining.

However, with Mansell announcing a split with USR a month ago, Molina has also confirmed on his personal website that he will not see out the year with Anglo-French team.

“I confirm, on my website, that I will not compete in the next round of the World Series by Renault at the Nurburgring because of a breach of contract by the Ultimate Motorsport. This way I make it clear that it is not my fault.

“From this moment I and the company that represents me will work hard to get a deal to compete again as soon as possible, either in this or any higher category.”

A title favourite at the beginning of the year, Molina is seventh in the standings with a best result of second at Le Mans.
