Carbone not satisfied with best result
1 January 1901
Fabio Carbone was in a surprisingly phlegmatic mood following the first World Series by Renault race of the weekend at Silverstone, despite recording his and Ultimate Signature's best ever result of fourth.
After a tricky start to the season, one that has shown pace but little luck, Ultimate Signature have starred all weekend with the combination of Carbone and new team-mate Esteban Guerrieri after both drivers reached Superpole for the first time.
Even better, while Guerrieri qualified in third, Carbone was also up there in seventh, a result that would ensure him a spot on the front row for the first race.
Despite a poor getaway – a consequence of being unable to practice starts this year – Carbone was at least able to hold off the race-long advances of Giedo van der Garde all the way to the chequered flag to finish fourth, multiplying his points tally in the process.
However, the Brazilian was still feeling frustrated after claiming that he could have been challenging for the win had the team not gone the wrong way on set-up

With Guerrieri starting third for the second race and Carbone in seventh, the former British Formula 3 driver is confident that Ultimate Signature can be celebrating a landmark result tomorrow, not least because he wants to get in there before their sister F3 team do so…
“I think Esteban can be on the podium tomorrow and if the car is handling better then maybe we can find a few more places too. But we need to find pace in the high-speed corners because the other guys seemed faster.
“I think they (F3 team) have a better chance tomorrow, but we're still well placed so we shall see…
