Newly crowned World Series by Renault champion Bertrand Baguette maintained his winning ways in the penultimate race of the season at Motorland Aragon after methodically working his way up the order.

The Belgian, who secured the title for Draco Racing last time out at the Nurburgring, started the reverse grid sprint race from fifth position, but steadily moved past his rivals to relieve Oliver Turvey of the lead at just over the half way point.

Turvey had started from pole position, a place he maintained in the early stages, ahead of Daniil Move, Federico Leo, Baguette and Jon Lancaster.

Although he is yet to even score a point this season, Pons Racing's Leo put up a staunch defence of third against Baguette, rebuffing his efforts to pass in several corners before eventually succumbing. Unfortunately for him, Lancaster and Jaime Alguersuari would follow through, demoting Leo from third to sixth in just a few metres.

Baguette quickly raced up to the back of Move, who in turn had been keeping Carlin's Turvey honest. However, the Russian was no match for Baguette and he was up into second position by lap ten, Lancaster again following through.

With Turvey his next target, Baguette didn't waste much time in dispatching the young Briton, passing at the end of the long home straight on lap fifteen. From here, Baguette was untroubled, finishing almost two seconds ahead of Turvey, who in turn had built up a considerable lead over Lancaster in third.

Another good result for the youngster, who only joined the series from the fourth round for Comtec Racing, the former Formula 3 Euroseries driver held on for a second podium finish of the year, ahead of Move.

After qualifying outside the top ten, series returnee Esteban Guerrieri put in a marvellous performance to climb his way up to fifth place for RC Motorsport, the Argentine passing feature race pole sitter Fairuz Fauzy, Leo and F1 driver Alguersuari late on.

Chris van der Drift and Greg Mansell rounded out the top ten.
