Andrews to make TT debut on BMW

16 February 2011

Fresh from the confirmation that he will ride in this year's British Superbike Championship, Simon Andrews has announced he will also be making his debut at the Isle of Man TT in 2011 aboard a BMW.

The BSB podium winner has penned a deal to ride an Ice Valley BMW S1000RR – as previously campaigned by EVO champions Jentin Racing – in the Superbike, Superstock and Senior TT races.

A first TT entry for Andrews, who is beginning to add more road racing events to his schedule following two successful outings at Macau, he is delighted to be getting the chance to compete in the legendary biking event.

“I went to the TT in 1997 with my father and just thought it was a great atmosphere. It's like nothing else and I thought then, this is something I need to tick off the list. Motorcycling opens so many doors and you need to take the opportunities when they are there.”

The news comes after Andrews was announced as riding a PR Racing Kawasaki in the BSB EVO class this season [see separate story].
