Conor Cummins working towards TT return

10 March 2011

Isle of Man TT Superbike lap record holder Conor Cummins is well on the way to making a racing return in time for a 2011 campaign after taking part in a pre-season test at Cartagena.

The 24-year-old was badly hurt in an accident during the 2010 Senior TT race, Cummins suffering extensive leg, arm and back injuries that necessitated a lengthy period of recuperation.

Nonetheless, Cummins is plotting a full-time return in the National Superstock 1000 series with Blackhorse Kawasaki this season, the team with which he was testing at Cartagena.

With plans also in place to rejoin McAdoo Kawasaki Racing for this year's Isle of Man TT, Cummins says he is getting close to full fitness again.

“It is awesome being back on the bike and it feels great,” he said. “It has been the first time back on a bike here and it still feels the same as any other test.”

“I have been getting back into it and just been making minor changes, but everything is feeling positive and I don't seem to be struggling because of the previous injuries so I am really happy.”
