NW200: Seeley begins victory crusade in Superstock class

16 May 2012

Tyco Suzuki's Alastair Seeley bids for his first victory of what could be a stunning Relentless International North West 200 for the Northern Irishman in Thursday's evening's Livewire AV Superstock race.

Seeley set the second fastest time on Tuesday behind fellow Northern Ireland man Ryan Farquhar, but feels his KMR Kawasaki rival gained a tow from his GSX-R1000 during the session.

The British Superbike ace, who has five victories at the North West 200, is being hyped as a possible winner of all five races on Saturday.

And Seeley made a blistering start to his preparations on Tuesday, claiming provisional pole in the Superbike and Supersport classes before being edged out by Farquhar in the Superstock session.

“I'm pretty happy with that first session. You can't get much better than P1 in both Superbike and Supersport and P2 in Superstock is also pretty good,” he said.

“The game plan wasn't to give Farquhar a tow to the provisional pole time in the 'stock class though, but it's front row starts so far and we can't complain.

“The bikes have been faultless and it's just a matter or re-loading now for Thursday and giving it another bash.”

Inclement weather is forecast on Thursday and Tuesday's times could prove crucial if final qualifying is held in unfavourable conditions.
