TT2012: Weather postpones Friday showpiece

8 June 2012

Friday's showpiece finale at the 2012 Isle of Man TT has been postponed until Saturday due to inclement weather conditions.

The organisers took the decision shortly after 9.30am on Friday morning, opting to reschedule the Lightweight Supertwin race until 10.45am on Saturday (three laps), with the six-lap PokerStars Senior TT due to commence at 1.30pm.

John McGuinness, who claimed his 19th TT victory in the Superstock race on Monday, can surpass Northern Ireland road racing idol Joey Dunlop as the most successful superbike rider ever on the Mountain course with victory in the Senior.

Both riders are poised on 13 victories apiece on the big bikes, although that could change on Saturday, when McGuinness starts a a red-hot favourite to follow up his Superbike TT success on the Honda Legends Fireblade.

In the Lightweight Supertwin event, Ryan Farquhar is fancied to build on his North West 200 triumph in the class.

MotoGP rider Cal Crutchlow and Moto2 ace Bradley Smith will complete a lap of the circuit in the Monster Energy Parade Lap prior to the Saturday Senior race.
