Brookes told 'win BSB title and you can race at TT'
15 June 2012
British Superbike star Josh Brookes has an extra incentive to win the coveted title this season – a ride in next year's Isle of Man TT races.
The Aussie has become hooked on the Mountain course and remains intent on making his TT debut in 2013.
He participated in the Arai Parade Lap at the event last week alongside legendary 500cc Grand Prix racers Kevin Schwantz and Randy Mamola and afterwards reaffirmed his desire to try his luck at the most iconic road race circuit in the world.
Brookes joined a group of prospective newcomers on trip to the Isle of Man during the annual Manx Grand Prix festival in 2011 and although he had hoped to make his debut this year, the decision was taken to focus on winning the BSB crown.
However, should he achieve that feat, Tyco Suzuki team boss Philip Neill says Brookes can take on the unique challenge of the TT next summer.
Following his lap of the circuit, Brookes said: “There are still a lot of areas out there that I'm still unsure of, so I've a lot of work to do before I do proper race laps.
“I'm very much looking forward to the possibility of racing here.
“The British Superbike Championship is the priority this year but Philip [Neill] said if I win the title I can race at the TT!”
“It's so exhilarating and it's such a good feeling,” he added on Manx Radio TT 365.
“To race bikes all your life and then discover a new feeling, a new experience, is an amazing thing.”
