Guy Martin to remain with Tyco Suzuki
5 December 2012
Tyco Suzuki colours team boss Philip Neill has all but confirmed that Guy Martin will remain in the team for a third year.
The Lincolnshire rider joined the Northern Ireland team for the 2011 season and remained on board this year, when his best result was a victory in the feature superbike race at the Ulster Grand Prix in August.
The 31-year-old TV star is still seeking his maiden victory at the Isle of Man TT and faces formidable opposition again in 2013 in he form of Mountain king John McGuinness, who is joined in the Honda TT Legends team by young gun Michael Dunlop plus veteran British Superbike rider Michael Dunlop.
BSB ace Josh Brookes will make his TT debut next June with the Tyco Suzuki team, although Conor Cummins' role is less clear cut.
In an interview with Manx Radio, Neill said: “Guy is happy where he is and we're happy with him, so there's a strong desire to continue there.
“Not that there isn't with Conor [Cummins] either, we just have a few bits and pieces still to discuss and work out with Conor.
“He's been away for a few weeks in Macau and I hadn't been able to pin him down, so we're due to sit down and reach a decision…and we hope to make some further announcements once we have everything in place.”
Cummins has been linked to Shaun Muir's Milwaukee Yamaha team alongside Ulsterman William Dunlop, who will compete at the international road races next year in addition to the British Supersport Championship.
