TT 2013: Martin turns attention to blue riband Senior

6 June 2013

Guy Martin has one final crack of the whip as he attempts to secure his maiden Isle of Man TT victory in 2013 in tomorrow's Senior TT.

Martin, who finished in eighth position in the second Supersport race on Wednesday after experiencing machine trouble with an intermittent misfire, lapped at 127.53mph during the Senior TT practice lap yesterday.

The Tyco Suzuki rider will have to find a way to match the incredible pace of Honda TT Legends pair Michael Dunlop and John McGuinness if he is to make the breakthrough in the six-lap showpiece and so far at TT 2013 that has seemed unlikely.

Reflecting on the second Supersport race, Martin – who finished fourth in the Superbike TT last Sunday – said: “It was a strange little problem that only happened low in the rev range, but it certainly hampered our progress.

“I could have pulled in but thought, 'what a lovely day to ride your bike' and continued for the fans and sponsors.

“We did a lap on the Superbike and yeah, I can work with that. Let's see how she goes on Friday.”

Tyco Suzuki team manager Phillip Neill is hopeful Martin can give the Northern Ireland team a rostrum finish in tomorrow's blue riband race.

“We had a pretty faultless practice week and have now had two small technical issues in Superstock and Supersport,” he said.

“All that is left now is Friday's Senior TT and we will be looking for a podium to finish the TT fortnight off on a positive.”
