TT 2013: Dunlop has 'no excuses' after Senior defeat
8 June 2013
Michael Dunlop graciously accepted defeat to his Honda TT Legends team-mate John McGuinness following yesterday's Senior race on the Isle of Man.
Dunlop was on course to equal Ian Hutchinson's 2010 record of five wins in a week, but McGuinness had the upper hand after an epic Senior clash between the old master and the TT's new star, winning by ten seconds with Bruce Anstey third.
Dunlop, who broke race and lap records on his way to four wins in the Superbike, Superstock and Supersport races, had no complaints at the end of the six-lap thriller.
The Northern Ireland man said: “It was a good, enjoyable race and John rode lovely so fair play to him.
“I had him in sight early on and there wasn't much between us but I got held up a bit by backmarkers, catching them at the wrong times, and I lost a bit of time there and at the pit stops.
“No excuses though, the bike was mint and I'm going home with four wins and a second place so I can't complain with how my week's gone.”
Dunlop's amazing lap of 131.2mph on the final lap of the Superstock race to snatch victory from Anstey earlier in the week has been hailed as the best ever witnessed on the Mountain Course.
