Dunlop to race Honda TT Legends Fireblade at Ulster GP
13 June 2013
Michael Dunlop will ride the Honda TT Legends Superbike at the Ulster Grand Prix in August.
Dunlop, who won four races at the Isle of Man TT this year, was originally only due to ride the machine at the North West 200 and TT, but the Ulsterman will now challenge for more Superbike glory on the CBR1000RR Fireblade at Dundrod.
The 24-year-old, a triple winner at the 2012 Ulster GP in the Superbike and Superstock races, will not be joined at Dundrod by Senior TT winner John McGuinness, who will compete instead in the Endurance World Championship round at Oschersleben in Germany, which clashes with the 'Prix'.
Dunlop said: “I'm looking forward to racing at the 'Ulster' on the Honda TT Legends superbike.
“We've done a lot of work on the bike during the NW200 and the TT and we're in a good position now.
“It rode lovely at the TT and we obviously brought home a win there so it would be good to do the same at the Ulster.”
Honda race team boss Neil Tuxworth said he was happy to see Dunlop race in the team's colours at Dundrod as the remainder of the Legends team competes in the Endurance World Championship round at Oschersleben in Germany.
“We know that Michael will do a great job in representing the TT Legends," said Tuxworth.
"He's had success at the Ulster GP in the past with six wins under his belt, so we wish him the best of luck and we'll be cheering him on from Germany."
