What a tragedy. 16 operations though sounds bad. Is beginning to sound like Robert Kubica (F1)- it is too bad and serious to continue racing for now. Maybe a future date but risk is then that all that time out makes the skills rusty. Wont sign off without wishing Ian all the best for now and the future

Incredibly disappointed for him, was so looking forward to seeing how he'd do at the TT this year on the R1. A real shame, I hope he didn't feel/get pressured into performing at this show? He's already a Legend but I do hope it's not over before his comeback has begun!

I feared this would happen. Racers will be racers but somebody should've saved him from himself. Whoever issued the invite must seriously question themselves, MCN are you listening.

Get it cut off! You'd still kick Guy 'I'm a truck mechanic me' Martin's ****!

Was looking forward to seeing Martin having his nose rubbed in it.....

All the best Hutchy - ALL-TIME LEGEND.

What a shame...after such a long road to recovery, and so close to a return to racing on british soil.

My heart goes out for a Full recovery, just hope that he wasnt trying to prove a point, and in so doing endangered himself..if there is a positive it must be that he is in the excellent hands of the specialists at Coventry.
