Funny all the fanfare about Carl Fogarty being at the nw200 this year obviously comming from the organisers. Ive no problem with this but it just stinks a bit that Freddie Spencer was at the north west last year as a guest of the vintage japanese club. Stood in a tent with static displays of 70s & 80s jap bikes, for most of the day speaking to spectators and was virtually shunned and ignored by the organisers. They made a big thing on local radio and tv of the laverty brothers being there never mentioned spencer. On the day he was to ride a fireblade round the track but that was shelved due to the oil spill. He was basically ignored. Surely it wouldnt have been too hard to take him out to various points of the track to meet the fans - might have helped entertain the crowd as racing was light on the ground.

I have a high regard for Foggy and his achievements but this is not news! Foggy racing at the NorthWest would be news ! Maybe I'm being a bit grumpy and getting desperate for the racing to start.

Looking forward to seeing Carl at the North West again . Mathers cross was spot on with his post but failed to add that Jim Redman MBE and Ralph Bryans were also there
to ride a parade lap and spent the day in the VJMC tent
talking to fans. The three Honda works riders should have been interveiwed on the radio to give the fans
something to listen to as they stood waiting most of the afternoon with no updates .I was disapointed that the race organisers showed these riders no respect on the race day.

Fingers crossed you guys at the NW get good weather and have the meeting you deserve. Ignoring past masters and ambassadors to the sport is a very bad move. Freddy Spencer a legend and
a Gent still carries a lot of clout around the world in the eyes of sponsors.

NW200 Paid nothing to bring Freddie Spencer. Yet they had the oportunity to use him as an attraction. The vjmc paid for freddie with a sponsor they arranged.
Dont worry the top riders get enough start money thats why they come. And why the coleraine club is in the financial state it is.

Im all for bringing back road racing stars to events but i should say that cdmc /nw200 did give some money for freddie spencer not alot but some we were all disapointed that we were ignored on race day and that all 3 world champions did not get out on their laps
But the weather, bomb scare and other things that were out of anyones control
I am not sticking up for the nw200 managment but it is unfare to say they did not pay for something. freddie , jim and ralph were very disapointed that they never got out this could have went ahead even to let the fans see them

To the north west managment!! Listen to what the fans want or you will loose them to the smaller up and comming road races no more cars and van driving around the circuit wasting time no more bsb stile warmup then sitting for 10 mins or so just get the rave going warm up then race
Also when other clubs offer help to try to enhance the race week at least have manners to work with them
