On a slightly different subject i was watching the coverage of the Superbike race on ITV4 on saturday night and was amazed at the speed differential between the front runners and the slower riders.
When Mc Pint came up on Maria Costello it was lucky it was on a straight part of the course.
There are a lot of blind corners and crests on the TT circuit where the slower riders could cause incidents.
Why dont the organisers raise the qualifying standard like in other forms of motorsport.(107% rule)
A qualifying speed within 10mph of the fastest time would be a good starting point and then the organisers can use decression if the riders who have proved in the past that they are capable of lapping at the speed required to race have had problems during practice and qualifying.
It is a simple solution to make a very dangerous sport that little bit safer.
