Hope he can do it but get the feeling that Guy Martin wont win a TT. Keeps winning at Olivers Mount where hes unbeatable. Thats not a bad thing though is it? Wouldnt mind having that on my CV.

Huchy & McGuiness keep out of the limelight and focus on the job in hand. They also don't tend to ge caught up in the politics of the event. (podium sulking etc)

Conversely Guy's personality (which makes him such a fan favourite) coupled wth his continued desire to do TV programmes and work as a Truck mechanic is probably what holds him back in the last tiny percent between champion and bridesmaid.

And that's a real shame IMO. I admit I worry that one day the desire to win will eat him up so much he'll push too hard...

True enough.

But I don't get the impression Guy's quite on minimum wage. He's maybe not on Lewis Hamilton money but he does Ok.

I would prefer him to quit all the extraneous stuff. And be a Full Time pro, if only for a year.

Do whatever it is he needs to do Train 40 hours a week.. Get the best Rider advice, better management, more testing on the bike etc etc. Every I and every T.

So that in 2014 he can go to the island and blitz it.

its simple, he needs to get back on a HONDA!

i mean come on, those suzukis are barely making any inroads, and the trifector of honda teams ( tt legends, padgetts and wilson) basically monopolise the podiums. So yea its time to get back on one of them, otherwise hes just wasting away the years.

Danik17 spot on dude. I like Rutter but would love to see Guy on that bike. When he crashed that Wilson Craig Blade a few years back he was right on it having a huge tussle with big John and Hutchy. The GSXR isn't winning anything anywhere in the world right now, too old and slow. Get out while in your prime Guy, you need to be back on a Honda to win a Superbike TT

I don't know why Guy hasn't won one, he's certainly been fast enough for 5 or 6 years now, he's a fit man as well, does a lot of mountain bike competitions so there's no question of his fitness, maybe it is his part time racing schedule which affects his sharpness.

The GSXR hasn't been renewed in a few years now, right? So it's an old bike, and everyone else is setting lap records. I even pity anyone who's on a Suzuki in WSBK.

And I doubt sitting at home and thinking about the TT would help Guy out any, and it isn't politics to be personally hurt by a penalty you feel was unearned.

It must be very hard for Guy to compete when he has to be up the next day to do his truck fitting job what with him being a truck fitter and in no way a professional bike rider.
