Ian, he's won pretty much every uk road race except the TT which he would've arguably won years ago bar a dodgy chain on the Blade. Guy is a fan of engineering, and probably jumped at the chance to make such a cool show, as any engineer would. Racing on roads doesn't pay a great deal and bike racers have short careers like any sportsman so why not consolidate finances while possible? But to ask 'what has he won' shows a complete lack of roads knowledge so your opinions are void I'm afraid mate :-)

Good luck to Guy on this new TV project, this sort of cross over into main stream TV can only be good for the sport.Just like Keith Flint getting involved in national level road and track racing having people from mainstream culture can only bring in new fans . Guy seems a marmite kind of a guy, people either like him or take a big dislike to him. But whatever you think he's good for bike racing .

Ian, This is good for bike racing in general, get it in mainstream TV. We need the exposure. Did you see the BBC SPOTY? 3 World Champs and not one in the top 10. Exactly.

I think you will find Guy Martin makes a good living from road racing. He will be raking in a good 100k...Appearance money, start money, sponsor money, lap money, prize money. Its probably more thqan 100k but we all have the right to earn what we can so fair paly to him

@Greavesit: I think YOU will find that 100k a year for 15 years is the equivalent of my salary over my working lifespan, and I don't risk my life or earn 'big' money! I was merely pointing out to Ian that the roads guys don't earn squllions like many think they do. Guy is one of the top roads earners not just because of results \ skill, but also because his is a known face due to tv work. And like you say, he has every right to earn it. I would if I could. But still, he's not 'rich' like some folk think. FYI the TOTAL prize fund to cover ALL nw200 races is only 150k!!!!

But that doesn't include start money, appearance money. Sponsorship money. That's where he makes it. I suppose you're now going to tell me what his individual contracts on the above are worth to guy. And if you read my post I say he makes a good living, I didn't say he was rich.
