Porsche confirms involvement in 2010 Isle of Man TT

Legendary car maker Porsche is to become part of the Isle of Man TT this year, it has been revealed.
The Isle of Man TT will be able to boats the addition of another big name – German car marquee Porsche – when the international road race festival gets underway in May.

It has been confirmed the Stuttgart firm has been selected as the Official Car Provider of the TT following a tender process. Porsche replaces Isle of Man-based family firm Mylchreests, which has had a long involvement with the event.

Porsche will supply 12 of its latest models, including the Cayenne, the Panamera and 911, for use in managing the running of the fortnight-long event, including course inspection and road open and closed duties.

The deal could also see extra exposure for the TT, as Porsche promotes its involvement through its international network of dealerships and in the global media.

Although the contract to be the Official Car Provider has gone to a German business, there will still be close local links through the deal – the contract will be managed by the Isle of Man's official Porsche dealer Corkills Group.

Corkills Managing Director Adrian Kermode said:

"Porsche are delighted to be playing such an important role in one of the world's greatest motorsport events and it is a perfect fit with our company's corporate and brand values."

"I have been a fan of the TT since childhood and fondly remember working on the scoreboard as a boy scout and my mother also helped for many years in the race office. I'm delighted to once again be actively involved with the event."

Isle of Man Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle added:
"It is very pleasing to welcome Porsche's involvement in the TT and it should hopefully encourage other prestigious brands and companies to become commercial partners."

"I'm pleased that the TT course car contract will remain on the Island with a Manx-based company and would like to take this opportunity to thank David Mylchreest from Mylchreest Motors for the role that he, his family and company have played for many years."
