Ryan Farquhar wins four races at Cookstown 100

'It was a great day for me and for all the team and I would say that win
in the big race was one of my best ever National road race victories' - Ryan Farquhar
Ryan Farquhar increased his incredible record at the Cookstown
100 road races in Northern Ireland on Saturday, where he cemented his status as the event's
 most successful rider ever.

Farquhar won the feature Superbike, Supersport 600, Moto 450 and Supertwin 650 races on his KMR Kawasaki machines.

However, Tyco TAS Suzuki's Suzuki's Guy Martin prevented the Ulster hero from securing a clean sweep of the main classes as he won the first Superbike event on his GSX-R1000.

Farquhar made his
customary flying start as he hit the front on his ZX-10R Superstock
machine in the feature Superbike race of the day.

As Farquhar opened a slight advantage, Martin set off in pursuit and
appeared to be reeling in the Dungannon rider until he out-braked himself
at the end of the long start/finish straight.

This left Farquhar clear of the chasing pack and he had four seconds in
hand over Michael Dunlop at the flag, with Adrian Archibald completing
the podium places on his AMA Kawasaki.

Martin, who regrouped to finish fifth, had the consolation of the
fastest lap at 90.363mph - a whisker outside his 2011 lap record.

Farquhar told the Belfast News Letter: "I was leaving my braking so late that
I knew there was no chance of anyone passing me into the first corner. I had a really good braking marker and I knew Guy wouldn't get past me
 there.

"Sure enough I saw his shadow coming but at the speed he came past
me I knew he wouldn't get stopped and he overshot.

"It was a great day for me and for all the team and I would say that win
in the big race was one of my best ever National road race victories."

William Dunlop, who started from pole position in the Superbike and
Supersport classes, was a double winner in the 125cc and 250cc races, but was unable to translate his pace in Friday's qualifying into success
in the feature races.

Cookstown was awesome! It was my first real road race meeting and I had an absolute blast. Guy Martin and Michael Dunlop overtook me in qualifying for the Supersport race and I am even more in awe at the skill of those guys than ever before - amazing. Needless to say they were gone in a flash! But I was very pleased nonetheless, I got a podium in the Senior Support B race and got to within about 10 seconds of the really fast guys. Not bad for a first go. Can't wait for Tandragee! Oli
