Ryan Farquhar confirms 2013 plans

'My personal involvement as a rider may have come to an end but I'm busier than ever and am really relishing my new role' - Ryan Farquhar
Ryan Farquhar has finalised his plans for 2013 after confirming a lucrative financial sponsorship package with car manufacturer Vauxhall.

The Northern Ireland team owner, who quit road racing last August in the wake of the death of his uncle in an accident at the Manx Grand Prix, intends to run five Supertwin machines at the North West 200 in May.

Farquhar has retained up and coming young talent Jamie Hamilton – last year's fastest newcomer at the Isle of Man TT – and has brought in former British National Superstock and 125cc rider Connor Behan from Cheshire.

Behan will contest a full season of Irish road racing in the Senior and Junior Support Championships for Farquhar on a Supertwin machine and one of Kawasaki's new 636cc bikes, while Hamilton will ride a Superstock-trim Kawasaki ZX-10, a ZX-6 plus a Supertwin ER6 at the national and international meetings in addition to the Southern 100 and Scarborough events.

Farquhar is also expected to confirm a number of high profile signings for the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT in the coming weeks, with ex-Grand Prix rider Jeremy McWilliams and Michael Rutter poised to join Farquhar's team.

The pair finished second and third respectively behind Farquhar in the inaugural Supertwin race at the North West 200 last May, when McWilliams made his road racing debut.

Rutter also joined Farquhar on the podium in the Lightweight class at the TT, which also hosted a Supertwin race for the first time in 2012.

Farquhar said: “I'm delighted to welcome Vauxhall on board as the team's title sponsor and they've given me everything I could possibly need to lay the foundations for a highly successful 2013.

“After their involvement in last year's Supertwins race at the North West 200, they came on board as a personal sponsor and it's tremendous news that they've increased their involvement for the year ahead and got their support right behind myself and KMR Kawasaki.

“I'm equally thrilled to retain all my previous loyal sponsors.”
