Dean Harrison looks ahead to Cookstown 100 bow

'It's a proper road race with bumps and jumps and a big long straight so I'm really looking forward to it' - Dean Harrison
Bradford's Dean Harrison will make his debut at the Cookstown 100 Irish national road race this weekend.

Harrison, one of the leading up and coming young roads prospects, will ride the RC Express/MSS Kawasaki at the event, where Tyco Suzuki's Guy Martin, Honda TT Legends rider Michael Dunlop and Milwaukee Yamaha rider William Dunlop head an impressive entry.

The English rider made his roads debut in 2008 but has quickly climbed the ranks, becoming the first newcomer to lap the Dundrod circuit at the Ulster Grand Prix in excess of 130mph and taking the accolade of fastest newcomer at the 2012 Southern 100.

“It'll be my first time there. I've done a selected few rounds of the Irish championship before but I've only ever seen Cookstown on TV,” said Harrison.

“It looks right good craic and a good bit of fun, and it'll give me a chance to sort a few little teething problems out with our new Superbike before the North West 200.

“I got the ZX-10R Superbike set up pretty close at Scarborough, so even though I'm a newcomer I'd like to be up there running close to the front guys,” added the 24-year-old.

“It's a proper road race with bumps and jumps and a big long straight so I'm really looking forward to it. How will I go? You just never know.”
