Martin confident ahead of final NW200 practice

'Although we had a few little issues on the Superbike, we know she is quick and a capable machine around here, so I'm happy with her' - Guy Martin
Tyco Suzuki's Guy Martin is confident of improving further during final practice for the Vauxhall International North West 200 after a promising showing on Tuesday.

Martin's best lap on his GSX-R1000 Superbike machine was quick enough for third place on the provisional front row at 114.68mph, but he failed to complete the require five qualifying laps, managing four full laps of the 8.9-mile circuit.

The Lincolnshire rider was third fastest in the Supersport class behind HM Plant/Padgett's Honda pair John McGuinness and Bruce Anstey but ended the 15-minute Superstock session – shortened following an oil spill – in 21st position after time ran out to make adjustments to the gearing of the GSX-R1000.

“The 600 bike is mint and although we had a few little issues on the Superbike, we know she is quick and a capable machine around here, so I'm happy with her,” said Martin.

“The Superstock session was cut short and we run out of time to change the gearing and get back out there, but our grid positions in general are not too bad and I know we can improve on Thursday. Yeah it's all good so far.”

Martin was ruled out of the event in 2012 after a huge crash in the first Supersport race.
