Ulster Grand Prix: Michael Dunlop takes pole on Honda Legends Fireblade

Ulsterman Michael Dunlop was the only rider to crack the 130mph barrier as he clinched pole position for Saturday's Superbike races at the Ulster Grand Prix
Michael Dunlop will start Saturday's Superbike races at the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix from pole position.

Dunlop was the only rider to crack the 130mph barrier during final practice at the 7.4-mile Dundrod circuit today, taking the top spot on his Honda TT Legends Fireblade with a speed of 130.831mph.

Tyco Suzuki's Guy Martin was second fastest, two seconds down on Dunlop, clocking a best speed of 129.536mph.

William Dunlop also made it onto the front row on his Milwaukee Yamaha along with team-mate Conor Cummins, who completed a one-two for Shaun Muir's outfit, lapping at 128.45mph and 128.20mph respectively, around four seconds down on the leader.

Gary Johnson put his Honda Fireblade on the second row with a speed of 127.236mph in fifth place, with young gun Jamie Hamilton impressing as he clinched sixth on the Vauxhall KMR Kawasaki Superbike (126.797mph.

Bradford's Dean Harrison, the fastest ever newcomer at Dundrod after lapping at 130mph on his debut in 2012, was next on the RC Express MSS Kawasaki at 125.898mph, followed by Bruce Anstey on the Padgett's/HM Plant Honda (125.757mph) in eighth.

Cameron Donald was 10th fastest on the Wilson Craig Honda, lapping at 124.914mph on his return to the event after missing the international meeting in 2012.

In the Supersport class, it was Suzuki ace Martin who grabbed pole for Saturday's two 600cc races with a best lap at 120.403mph followed by Anstey (120.226mph).

Conor Cummins (Milwaukee Yamaha) and team-mate William Dunlop complete the front row, lapping at 119.901mph and 119.346mph respectively, with Cameron Donald in fifth position.
